Greg Daniels is an American television comedy writer, producer, and director. He is known for his work on the American sitcoms “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation”.

Daniels was born in New York City, New York on June 13, 1963. His father, Bill Daniels, was a writer and producer on the CBS soap opera “The Guiding Light”. His mother, Joan Daniels, was a homemaker. He has two sisters, Amy and Julie.

Daniels attended Harvard University, where he wrote for the Harvard Lampoon and graduated with a degree in economics in 1986. After graduation, he worked as a bank teller, a barista, and a fact checker for “Rolling Stone” magazine before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television.

Daniels’ first job in television was as a writer for the sitcom “Roseanne”. He later wrote for the shows “Saturday Night Live”, “The Simpsons”, and “King of the Hill”. In 2005, he created the American version of the British sitcom “The Office”. The show was a critical and commercial success, winning multiple Emmy Awards and running for nine seasons.

In 2009, Daniels created the sitcom “Parks and Recreation”, which also received critical acclaim and ran for seven seasons. In 2016, he co-created the Netflix series “The Crown”, which tells the story of the British royal family.

Daniels has been married to his wife, Susanne Daniels, since 1991. They have two children together.
