Gina Gallego is an American actress. She was born in Los Angeles, California, on October 5, 1963, to parents of Mexican descent. Gallego began her acting career in the early 1980s, appearing in a number of television commercials and guest-starring roles on television shows such as “Hill Street Blues” and “Cheers”. In 1984, she landed her first major role, playing the character of Sonia Ortiz on the soap opera “Santa Barbara”. She would go on to appear in a number of other soap operas over the next few years, including “General Hospital” and “Loving”. In the early 1990s, Gallego began appearing in films, such as “The Rookie” and “Necessary Roughness”. She has also had recurring roles on television shows such as “ER” and “The Young and the Restless”. Gallego has been married twice; first to actor Robert Gossett from 1992 to 1999, and then to actor/director Tony Plana from 2002 to present. She has two children.
