Emily Saliers (born July 22, 1963) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She is a founding member of the Indigo Girls, and is known for her work as a solo artist and with her band.

Saliers was born in Decatur, Georgia, and grew up in the nearby town of Chamblee. She is the daughter of John Saliers, a minister, and Nancy Saliers, a teacher. She has two sisters, Amy and Sarah. Saliers was exposed to a wide range of music as a child, including folk, classical, and rock. She began playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 11.

Saliers graduated from Emory University in 1985 with a degree in anthropology. She met Amy Ray while they were students at Emory, and they formed the Indigo Girls in 1985. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1987, and their second album, Nomads*Indians*Saints, in 1988.

The Indigo Girls achieved mainstream success with their fourth album, Swamp Ophelia, which was released in 1994. The album peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart, and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album’s lead single, “Closer to Fine”, peaked at number five on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.

The Indigo Girls have released 13 studio albums, three live albums, and eight compilations. They have sold over 14 million records worldwide.

Saliers released her debut solo album, Murmuration Nation, in 2017. The album peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Folk Albums chart.

Saliers has been in a relationship with Julie Cypher since 1992. They have two children together, son Beckett (born 1998) and daughter Gia (born 2001).

Saliers has a net worth of $8 million. She earns a salary of $1 million per year from her music career.
