Eddie Collins was born on May 2, 1887 in Millerton, New York. His parents were Michael and Kate Collins. He had two brothers and two sisters. Eddie Collins was educated at Seton Hall Preparatory School and Columbia University. He began his professional baseball career with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1906. He played for the Chicago White Sox from 1915 to 1926.
He was a member of the World Series winning teams in 1917 and 1919. He was traded to the New York Yankees in 1927 and played for them until his retirement in 1930. Eddie Collins’ career batting average was . 333 and he had 3,315 hits. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939.
