Don Dokken is an American heavy metal singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known for being the lead vocalist and founder of the band Dokken. He is known for his powerful vocal range and unique style of singing, which has earned him critical acclaim throughout his career.
Dokken was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 29, 1953. His father, John Dokken, was a Hollywood stuntman and his mother, Barbara Dokken, was a model. He has two older sisters, Debbie and Donna. Dokken was raised in the San Fernando Valley and began playing guitar at the age of 13. He was influenced by a wide range of artists, including Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Black Sabbath.
Dokken attended San Fernando Valley State College (now California State University, Northridge), where he studied music theory and composition.
