Norman Hassan is an English actor, best known for his role as Dr. Al Hasawi in the medical drama series Holby City.

Born in London, England, Hassan was raised in a working-class family. His father was a taxi driver and his mother was a homemaker. Hassan has two older sisters.

Hassan’s interest in acting began at a young age. He would often put on shows for his family and friends. When he was 10 years old, he joined a local drama group.

After completing his secondary education, Hassan went on to study drama at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). He graduated in 1984.

Hassan’s first professional acting role was in the 1985 television series The Bill. He has since appeared in numerous television shows and films, including The Naked Civil Servant (1985), The Elephant Man (1980), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Holby City (1999-present).

In Holby City, Hassan plays the role of Dr. Al Hasawi, a cardiothoracic surgeon. The show has been praised for its realistic portrayal of the medical profession and Hassan’s performance has been lauded by critics.

Hassan is married to actress Joanne Mitchell. The couple have two children together.
