Mary Grace Canfield was born on October 18, 1932 in Rutland, Vermont. Her parents were George Canfield and Grace (née Webster) Canfield. She had two older sisters, Dorothy and Barbara. Canfield attended the Willard School for Girls in Boston and graduated from Smith College in 1954.

Canfield began her career as a model, appearing in magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. She made her television debut in an episode of The United States Steel Hour in 1955. The following year, she appeared in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Canfield’s breakout role came in 1964, when she was cast as Ralph Monroe on the CBS sitcom Green Acres. She played the role for six seasons, until the show ended in 1971.

After Green Acres, Canfield appeared in a number of television movies and guest-starred on various television shows. In 1975, she starred in the short-lived sitcom The Montefuscos.

Canfield’s final television appearance was in an episode of Murder, She Wrote in 1996. She retired from acting after that and died on February 15, 2014 at the age of 81.

Canfield’s net worth was estimated to be $5 million at the time of her death. She never married or had any children.
