L’Wren Scott (April 28, 1964 – March 17, 2014) was an American fashion designer and stylist. She was born Laura “Luann” Bambrough in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Janice (née Knight), a model, and Ivan Bambrough, an electrical engineer. She had two older sisters, Jan and Robyn. Scott was educated at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. After working as a stylist for photographers such as Bruce Weber and Herb Ritts, and for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, she began designing her own label in 2006.
Scott’s designs were worn by celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Christina Hendricks, Amy Adams, Samantha Barks, and First Lady Michelle Obama. In 2013, Scott was ranked as the 98th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine.
Scott was in a relationship with Mick Jagger from 2001 until her death in 2014.
On March 17, 2014, Scott was found dead in her apartment in New York City. The cause of death was later determined to be suicide by hanging.
