Luenell’s career began in the early 1980s, when she started performing stand-up comedy in clubs and bars. She soon began appearing on television and film, including a role in the 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop. In the 1990s, Luenell appeared on such shows as The Arsenio Hall Show and Def Comedy Jam. She also had a recurring role on the sitcom Martin.
In recent years, Luenell has appeared in the films Borat (2006), The Dilemma (2011), and Think Like a Man (2012). She has also had guest roles on the television shows Weeds and Californication.
