Lesli Margherita is an American actress, singer, and dancer. She is best known for originating the role of Mrs. Wormwood in the Broadway production of Matilda the Musical, for which she won the 2013 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She has also appeared on television in episodes of The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, and Elementary.
Margherita was born in San Pedro, California, and is of Italian descent. She began her career as a child actor, appearing in commercials and television shows such as The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives. She later attended the University of Southern California, where she studied musical theater.
Margherita made her Broadway debut in 2008 in the musical Zorro, and went on to originate the role of Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda the Musical in 2013. For her performance, she won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She has also appeared Off-Broadway in productions of The Addams Family Musical and Love, Loss, and What I Wore.
Margherita’s television credits include guest-starring roles on The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, and Elementary. She has also appeared in the films The Nanny Diaries (2007) and It’s Complicated (2009).
Margherita is married to actor Michael Rispoli, with whom she has two children.
