John Altman is an English actor, musician, composer and director. He is best known for his roles in the films The Long Good Friday, Withnail & I, Nil by Mouth and EastEnders.

Altman’s first film role was in the film The Long Good Friday (1980). He has also appeared in the films Withnail & I (1987), Nil by Mouth (1997) and EastEnders (1998). Altman has also appeared in the television series The Bill, Minder and The Sweeney.
Altman has been married three times. His first wife was actress Lesley Manville. They were married from 1977 to 1987 and had two children together. His second wife was actress Jane Booker. They were married from 1989 to 1996 and had one child together. His third wife is actress Kate Hardie. They have been married since 1997 and have two children together.
