Gregory Berlanti is an American film and television writer, producer and director. He is known for his work on the television series Dawson’s Creek, Everwood, Brothers & Sisters, Political Animals and The Flash. He has also written and produced the films Green Lantern and The Green Lantern Corps.

Berlanti was born in Rye, New York, the son of Barbara M. (née Keil), a homemaker, and Anthony P. Berlanti, a lawyer. His father is of Italian descent and his mother is of German and English ancestry. He has a brother, Bradley, and a sister, Dina. He graduated from Rye High School in 1985. He received his BA from Northwestern University in 1989.
Berlanti began his career in the entertainment industry as a writer on the television series Dawson’s Creek. He has since written and produced for a number of television series, including Everwood, Brothers & Sisters, Political Animals and The Flash. He has also written and produced the films Green Lantern and The Green Lantern Corps.
Berlanti is married to film and television producer Sarah Schechter. They have three children: Eli, Zoe and Sophie.

Quite a few of the characters on Everwood (especially minor ones) have the names of his friends and/or ex-teachers. In the Episode "We Hold these Truths", the orchestra conductor is named "Mr. Mendick" after his English/Drama teacher in High School.
