Eve Best is an English actress. She has worked in television, film and theatre. She is best known for her role as Dr. Eleanor O’Hara in the Showtime series Nurse Jackie (2009–2015), for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.
Best was born in London, England. Her father is a barrister and her mother is a teacher. She has two sisters. Best was educated at St Paul’s Girls’ School in London and then at the University of Oxford.
Best began her career in theatre. She has appeared in many stage productions, including Romeo and Juliet (2002), The Taming of the Shrew (2003), Much Ado About Nothing (2004), Macbeth (2005) and Antony and Cleopatra (2007). She has also appeared in the films Cold Mountain (2003), The King’s Speech (2010) and Hitchcock (2012).
Best’s television roles include the BBC series Waking the Dead (2000) and the ITV series The Tudors (2007). She has also appeared in the American series The Good Wife (2011) and Elementary (2012).
Best won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Dr. Eleanor O’Hara in Nurse Jackie (2009–2015).
Best is married to actor Toby Stephens. They have two children.
