Dexter Scott King is an American businessman, speaker, and author. He is the second son of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.
King was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 30, 1961. His father was a Baptist minister and his mother was a schoolteacher. He has an older sister, Yolanda, and a younger brother, Martin Luther III.
King was educated at Morehouse College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He also has a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
King began his career working in the family business, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. He later served as the center’s president and CEO.
King has also worked as a motivational speaker and an author. His books include Growing Up King: An Intimate Memoir (2003) and My Father: A Lifetime of Wisdom and Inspiration (2010).
King is married to Arndrea Waters King. They have two children, Dexter Scott Jr. and Bernice Albertine.
