Dave Roman is an American cartoonist and writer. He is best known for his work on the Nickelodeon animated series Astronaut Academy, as well as his graphic novels Teen Boat! and Star Wars: The Clone Wars Adventures.
Roman was born in New Jersey in 1976. He grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania, the youngest of three children. His father was a high school English teacher and his mother was a librarian.
Roman was always interested in comics and animation. He started drawing his own comics when he was in elementary school. In high school, he was a member of the school’s comic book club. After graduation, he attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he majored in cartooning.
Roman’s professional career began in the late 1990s, when he started working as a freelance artist for Nickelodeon Magazine. He also did some work for Disney Adventures Magazine and Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time. In 2010, Roman created the webcomic Teen Boat!, which was later adapted into a graphic novel.
In 2012, Roman co-wrote the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Adventures graphic novel with Scott Allie. The following year, he wrote and illustrated the first volume of the Astronaut Academy series.
Roman currently lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and two cats.
