Dale Bozzio is an American singer and songwriter, best known as a co-founder and lead vocalist of the new wave band Missing Persons.
Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, Bozzio began her musical career as a drummer in local bands. She met her future husband and Missing Persons co-founder Frank Zappa in 1976, and the couple moved to Los Angeles the following year. Bozzio was recruited as the lead singer of Zappa’s new band, which also featured her on drums and percussion.
Missing Persons released their debut album Spring Session M in 1982, and had a major hit with the single “Words”. The band’s follow-up album, Rhyme & Reason, was less successful, and Bozzio and Zappa divorced in 1986. Missing Persons disbanded shortly thereafter.
Bozzio subsequently embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut album Riot in English in 1987. She has released several more albums since then, including 2008’s New Wave Sessions.
Bozzio has also worked as an actress and model, appearing in films such as Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985) and TV shows such as Married… with Children (1987-88).
As of 2021, Dale Bozzio’s net worth is estimated to be $5 million.
