Charlie Rose is an American television journalist and former talk show host. He is the executive producer and host of Charlie Rose, a nightly interview program that airs on PBS. Rose has also worked for CBS News, Bloomberg, and 60 Minutes.

Rose was born in Henderson, North Carolina, on January 5, 1942. His father, Charles Peete Rose Sr., was a tobacco farmer, and his mother, Margaret Frazier Rose, was a homemaker. He has two sisters, Mary and Peggy. Rose graduated from Henderson High School in 1959. He then attended Duke University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history in 1963.

After graduation, Rose began his career as a news clerk at CBS News in New York City. He was soon promoted to producer and then reporter. In 1972, he became a Washington, D.C.-based correspondent for the network. He covered the Watergate scandal and the presidential campaigns of Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale.

In 1984, Rose left CBS to join Bloomberg News as its Washington bureau chief. He remained with the company until 1990, when he left to launch his own production company, Charlie Rose Inc. In 1991, he began hosting Charlie Rose, a nightly interview program that aired on PBS. The show became syndicated in 1996.

Rose has interviewed a wide range of guests on his show, including politicians, business leaders, artists, and scientists. He has also been a frequent guest on other television programs, including The Oprah Winfrey Show and 60 Minutes.

In 2017, Rose was accused of sexual harassment by eight women. He was subsequently fired from PBS and CBS, and his show was canceled.

Rose has been married three times. His first marriage, to Mary King, ended in divorce. He then married Jane Rose, with whom he has two children: Charles Jr. and Christopher. The couple divorced in 1980. Rose married his third wife, Bianca Jagger, in 1987. They divorced in 1995. Rose has been in a relationship with Amanda Burden since 2006.

Quotes

#Quote
1The center of my universe is Fifth Avenue and Central Park. It is where I live, ten minutes from where I work and within walking distance of three of the greatest museums in the world, plus Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. It is a true crossroads of the world, and for a boy who lived above a country store in North Carolina, wild-eyed and curious, it larger than any dream he had.
2The question is just as important as the answer.
