Carrie Ann Inaba is an American dancer, choreographer, television personality, and actress. She is best known for her work on the ABC television series Dancing with the Stars, where she has served as a judge since 2005.

Inaba was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Carolyn, a former hula dancer and singer, and Mark Inaba, a businessman. She is of Japanese and Chinese descent. Inaba has two older sisters, Lauren and Lisa.
Inaba graduated from Punahou School in 1986 and then attended the University of California, Irvine, where she studied broadcast journalism and dance. After college, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment.
Inaba’s first television appearance was as one of the original Fly Girls on the sketch comedy series In Living Color. She went on to choreograph music videos for Mariah Carey, George Michael, Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, and others.
Inaba has also appeared on a number of game and reality shows, including The View, The Talk, Miss America, and The Price Is Right. She was a co-host of the syndicated daytime talk show The Talk from 2010 to 2011.

Inaba began her career as a professional dancer in 1985, when she was recruited as a member of the pop music group ZZ Top’s music video “Legs.” She also appeared in Madonna’s “Material Girl” video and in several other music videos. Inaba has choreographed concerts for Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, and the Black Eyed Peas.
Inaba made her Broadway debut in the musical revue Swing! in 1999. She also appeared in the Broadway productions of Chicago and Rent.
Inaba has served as a judge on Dancing with the Stars since 2005. She has also been a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance and Strictly Come Dancing.
Inaba is an animal rights activist and has worked with PETA and The Humane Society of the United States.
