Bonnie Raitt is an American singer-songwriter and slide guitar player. Raitt began her career in the early 1970s, releasing her self-titled debut album in 1971 to critical acclaim. Her second album, Give It Up, was released in 1972 and was certified Gold. Raitt’s breakthrough album came in 1977 with the release of Sweet Forgiveness, which featured the hit single “Runaway. ” The album won Raitt a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Raitt has released a total of 16 studio albums, winning 10 Grammy Awards. She is also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 2000. Raitt has had a long-standing relationship with fellow musician Jackson Browne, with whom she has recorded two albums. Browne also produced Raitt’s album Green Light in 1982.
Raitt has been married twice, first to actor Michael O’Keefe from 1991 to 1999, and then to musician Bruce Witkin from 2001 to 2009. She has one son from her first marriage, and two stepdaughters from her second marriage.
