Anne Fletcher is an American film director, television director, and choreographer. She is best known for her work on the films Step Up (2006), 27 Dresses (2008), The Proposal (2009), and The Guilt Trip (2012).
Fletcher was born in 1965 in Boulder, Colorado, the United States. Her father, James Fletcher, was a professor of English at the University of Colorado, and her mother, Joan Fletcher, was a homemaker. She has two older sisters, Jane and Sarah. Fletcher was educated at Boulder High School and the University of Colorado, Boulder, from which she graduated with a degree in English in 1987.
Fletcher’s career began as a dancer, choreographer, and actress in musical theater. She made her Broadway debut as a dancer in the 1989 production of Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. She also choreographed the Off-Broadway musicals Bat Boy: The Musical (2001) and The Drowsy Chaperone (2006). In 2006, she made her feature film debut as a choreographer on the film Step Up. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $200 million worldwide.
