Deborah Ann “Debbie” Gibson (born August 31, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. Gibson released her debut album Out of the Blue in 1987, at the age of 16. This made her the youngest person to write, produce, and perform a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Foolish Beat” as well as the youngest solo artist to have a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with Out of the Blue. Her double-platinum second album Electric Youth (1989), saw Gibson embrace a more mature pop sound. She is also recognized as the first female artist to achieve five No. 1 singles from one album, a record she still holds in Japan.
Gibson’s career began when she was discovered at age 14 performing in her local community theater production of Annie. She was signed to Atlantic Records shortly thereafter and released her debut album Out of the Blue in 1987. The album was an instant success, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and spawning four top-ten singles: “Only in My Dreams”, “Shake Your Love”, “Out of the Blue”, and “Foolish Beat”. The last single made Gibson the youngest person to write, produce, and perform a No. 1 hit single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Gibson’s follow-up album Electric Youth (1989) was another commercial success, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawning three top-ten singles: “No More Rhyme”, “Electric Youth”, and “Lost in Your Eyes”. This made Gibson the first female artist to have five No. 1 singles from one album on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Gibson’s third album Body Mind Soul (1993) was less successful than her previous two albums, but still managed to spawn two top-ten singles: “Who Loves You” and “Anything Is Possible”.
Gibson’s fourth album Mind Your Business (1995) was her first album to not be certified by the RIAA. It did, however, spawn one top-40 single: “Only Words”.

Gibson’s fifth album Deborah (1997) was her first album in five years and was met with mixed reviews. The album only spawned one single: “What You Want”.
Gibson’s sixth album Ms. Vocalist (2001) was her first album to be released independently. The album was met with positive reviews and spawned two singles: “Only Words” and “We Could Be Together”.
Gibson’s seventh album Hot Night in Paris (2003) was her second album to be released independently. The album was met with positive reviews and spawned one single: “Lost in Your Eyes”.
Gibson’s eighth album Memory Lane (2010) was her third album to be released independently. The album was met with positive reviews and spawned one single: “Only Words”.
In 2012, Gibson announced that she was working on a new studio album, which was eventually released in 2014 under the title Only Words. The album was met with positive reviews and spawned two singles: “We Could Be Together” and “Only Words”.
In 2015, Gibson announced that she was working on a new studio album, which is set to be released in 2016.
Gibson has sold an estimated 16 million records worldwide. She has been nominated for four Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, and two MTV Video Music Awards.

That it's been almost two decades since "Out Of the Blue" and 'Weird Al' Yankovic has yet to parody even *one* of my songs makes me feel curiously left-out.

Has been typecast as not one but two fictional pop stars on series television: "Gabrielle" on Street Justice (1991); and "Christi Rose" on Step by Step (1991). In 2005, years after both shows were cancelled, she was asked for both "Christi's" and "Gabrielle's" autographs (plus her own) at the famous Tower Records store on Sunset Boulevard in West Los Angeles. She cheerfully obliged.
