FactDavid and Victoria held a lavish, star-studded party for the christening of their two sons, Brooklyn, 5, and Romeo, 2. The ceremony was held on the grounds of the Beckhams' Hertfordshire mansion (December 23, 2004).

David Beckham is one of the most successful soccer players of his generation. He played for some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain, and was a member of the English national team for over a decade. He is married to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, and they have four children together.

Born on May 2, 1975, in Leytonstone, London, Beckham was the middle child of Ted and Sandra Beckham. His father was a kitchen fitter, and his mother was a hairdresser. He has two older sisters, Lynne and Joanne, and a younger sister, Louise.

Beckham began playing soccer at a young age, and he soon joined a local youth team, Brimsdown Rovers. He attended Chase Lane Primary School and Chingford Foundation School, where he excelled in both soccer and academics. He was offered a place at Brentwood School, but his parents could not afford the tuition.

Beckham was spotted by a Manchester United scout while playing for Brimsdown Rovers, and he signed with the club at age 14. He made his professional debut with Manchester United in 1992, and he quickly became one of the team’s most important players. He helped Manchester United win the Premier League title in 1993, and he was a key player on the team that won the UEFA Champions League in 1999.

In 2003, Beckham signed with Real Madrid, becoming the first English player to join the Spanish club. He spent four seasons with Real Madrid, winning the La Liga title in 2007. He then joined Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007. Beckham spent six seasons with the Galaxy, winning two MLS Cup titles.

In 2013, Beckham signed with Paris Saint-Germain, and he helped the club win the Ligue 1 title in his only season with the team. He retired from professional soccer in May 2013.

Beckham is one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, and he has used his celebrity status to launch several successful businesses. He has his own line of clothing, fragrances, and underwear, and he has also released several best-selling books. Beckham’s net worth is estimated to be $450 million.

In 1997, Beckham met Victoria Adams, better known as “Posh Spice” of the pop group Spice Girls, at a charity event. The couple married in 1999, and they have four children together: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.

1I've probably had more contact with Judaism than with any other religion... I used to wear the traditional Jewish skullcaps when I was younger, and I also went along to some Jewish weddings with my grandfather.
2There is no greater feeling than seeing your children smile.
3[on media claims that pal Tom Cruise has tried to convert him and his wife Victoria to Scientology] I respect any person's religion but he's never pushed anything on to us. Friends don't do that.
4I have come to accept that if I have a new haircut it is front page news. But having a picture of my foot on the front page of a national newspaper is a bit exceptional.
5You can practice penalties till the cows come home but it is different when you are out there in front of 60,000 people and the pressure is on.
6It's one thing I like about America - they respect the sportsman. They put them up on a pedestal. They don't try to knock them down. And that's a great thing, to be respected by the whole country. It's so patriotic!
7I've got more clothes than Victoria.
8People can say what they like. But me and Victoria will always stay together as husband and wife.
9I always wanted to be a hairdresser.
10The way I and my family have been treated is an absolute disgrace. At the end of the day, I'm a nice person and loving husband and father. I've been called a bad father, I've been called a bad husband and my wife has been called a bad mother. Things always hurt that are said about my family, and for people to call my wife a bad mother is unbelievable. I'm a strong person, I'm a strong family man, I'm a strong husband and a strong father.
11During the past few months, I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life. The simple truth is that I am very happily married, have a wonderful wife and two very special kids. There is nothing that any third party can do to change these facts. - denying any affair with his former personal assistant, Rebecca Loos. [April 2004]
12I definitely want (my son) Brooklyn to be christened, but I don't know into what religion yet.
13Alex Ferguson is the best manager I've ever had at this level. Well, he's the only manager I've actually had at this level. But he's the best manager I've ever had.
14On Real Madrid: "To experience playing and being in the same team as these players is something that might not ever happen again - to have so many players in one team. I just wanted to be one of these stars and play in this team."
15I think the most important goal I scored in Spain was the first one because people were wary about me coming over to Spain as a player - they thought I was just there to sell shirts.
16At home things are hard. For instance, my curtains are never open, I get no privacy at all. In fact, I can't remember the last time I saw daylight in my house.
17Shopping! - Beckham describing his strengths
18I like Victoria for herself, not for nothing else. I'd like her if she worked in Tesco.
19Well, I can play in the centre, on the right and occasionally on the left side" - when asked if he thought that he was a volatile player
20Pelé was a complete player. I didn't see him live obviously, because I wasn't born.
21In Spain people have lunch and dinner a lot later - when I return to England I'll have to eat alone at midnight.
22If someone had said in 1998 after my sending off in the World Cup that I would be leading my country out within three years I would have laughed in their face.
23As a footballer you always want to test yourself against the best.
24Whenever Man Utd lose people always say there's a crisis.
25The England team should be managed by an English manager.
26I dream a lot about football and a lot of them have come true for me.
