David Edward “Dave” Finlay Jr. (born 25 October 1958) is a Northern Irish professional wrestling trainer, producer and retired professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE as a producer.

Finlay was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He began his career in 1974, wrestling in various independent promotions in Ireland and the United Kingdom. He wrestled in his first World Championship Wrestling (WCW) match in 1989 and made his first appearance for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1995.
Finlay held numerous championships throughout his career, including the WCW World Television Championship and the WWF European Championship. He is a former United States Heavyweight Champion, a three-time Hardcore Champion and a two-time World Tag Team Champion. He was also the 2006 King of the Ring winner.
Finlay retired from professional wrestling in 2011, but returned to WWE in 2017 as a producer. He is the father of professional wrestler David Finlay Jr., who currently competes in WWE’s NXT UK brand.

David Edward Finlay Jr. was born on 25 October 1958 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was raised in the city’s Shankill Road area and educated at Orangefield Boys’ Secondary School. He began amateur wrestling at the age of 14 and later joined the Belfast Wrestling Club.
Career
Finlay made his professional wrestling debut in 1974, wrestling under the name “Young David Finlay”. He wrestled in various independent promotions in Ireland and the United Kingdom, before making his World Championship Wrestling (WCW) debut in 1989.
In 1995, Finlay made his World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) debut as a member of Jim Cornette’s stable, The New Midnight Express. He feuded with The British Bulldog and Owen Hart before aligning himself with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Finlay won his first WWF Championship, the WWF European Championship, in 1997.

In 2006, Finlay won the King of the Ring tournament, defeating Booker T in the final. He also won the WWE Hardcore Championship three times and the World Tag Team Championship twice. In 2009, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Finlay retired from professional wrestling in 2011, but returned to WWE in 2017 as a producer. He is the father of professional wrestler David Finlay Jr., who currently competes in WWE’s NXT UK brand.
