Darren Star is an American television producer, director and writer. He is best known for creating and executive producing the television series Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place and Sex and the City.

Star was born in 1962 in New York City. He grew up in a Jewish household in the suburbs of Long Island. His parents were both successful professionals; his father was a doctor and his mother was a lawyer. Star attended private schools growing up and was always interested in the arts. He began writing plays in high school and went on to study film and television at Wesleyan University.

After college, Star moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television. He got his start working on music videos for artists like Madonna and Billy Idol. He then began working as a writer and producer on various television shows, including Saved by the Bell and Central Park West.

In 1990, Star created his first television series, Beverly Hills, 90210. The show was an instant hit and made stars out of its young cast members. It ran for 10 seasons and spawned a successful spin-off, Melrose Place.

In 1998, Star created another hit series, Sex and the City. The show followed the lives of four single women in New York City as they navigated their way through love and relationships. It ran for six seasons and was adapted into a successful film franchise.

Star has been married twice. He has three children from his first marriage and one from his second.

Star is currently working on a new television series called Younger. It is set to premiere on TV Land in 2015.

1Male nudity, full-frontal nudity, has always been considered a lot more taboo than female nudity. As far back as I can remember, there's been a double standard between men and women. I think it's time that men get equal time in terms of nudity.
