Danny Pintauro is an American actor best known for his role as Jonathan Bower on the long-running sitcom Who’s the Boss?.
Pintauro was born in Milltown, New Jersey on January 6, 1976, the son of Margaret (née Murphy), a nurse, and Joseph Pintauro, a writer and producer. He has two older sisters, Michele and Tracy.
Pintauro began his acting career at the age of six, appearing in a national commercial for Hershey’s chocolate. He made his television debut in an episode of the CBS soap opera As the World Turns in 1982.
In 1984, Pintauro was cast as Jonathan Bower, the son of Tony Danza’s character, on the ABC sitcom Who’s the Boss?. He appeared in all 196 episodes of the series, which ran for eight seasons until 1992.
After Who’s the Boss?, Pintauro appeared in a number of made-for-television movies and guest-starred on such television shows as Touched by an Angel, The Nanny, and Cybill.
In 1997, Pintauro came out as gay in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. He married his partner, Wil Tabares, in 2014.
Pintauro has appeared on Broadway in the play The Elephant Man and in the musical Cabaret.
