Bill Conti is an American composer and conductor best known for his work on the Rocky and The Karate Kid film franchises.
Born in 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island, Conti was the only child of Italian immigrants. His father was a tailor and his mother was a homemaker. Conti began taking piano lessons at the age of six and also learned to play the trumpet. He graduated from Classical High School in 1960 and then studied music at the University of North Texas.
Conti’s first big break came in 1976 when he was hired to compose the score for the film Rocky. The film’s success led to Conti being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score. He would go on to score several more films, including The Right Stuff, For Your Eyes Only, and The Karate Kid.
In addition to his work in film, Conti has also composed music for television, including the themes for Dynasty and Falcon Crest. He has won three Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.
Conti’s net worth is estimated to be $20 million. He has been married twice and has three children.

1 | In the back of your mind, when you say you want to write music for the movies, you're saying that you want a big house, a big car and a boat. If you just wanted to write music, you could live in Kansas and do it. |
2 | There's a higher place that I have no illusions about reaching. There's a sophistication and aesthetic about composers who only write only for the music's sake. |
