After hosting numerous TV game shows, Fleming moved to St. Louis to work as a radio host on the CBS-owned AM news/talk station, KMOX. He co-hosted a midday talk show with Mary Phelan and a weekend radio game show called "Games People Play." He was a collector of Civil War memorabilia including a scale model of a battlefield which was in his basement. Fleming hosted the nationally syndicated radio program "When Radio Was." Fleming retired from broadcasting in 1993.
Art Fleming was born on April 1, 1925 in New York City. His parents were both vaudeville performers, and his early education was in the New York public school system. Fleming began his career as a professional musician, playing in various nightclubs and dance bands. He also worked as a model and an actor, appearing in several Broadway productions. In 1956, Fleming was chosen to be the host of the game show “Jeopardy!” He continued to host the show for over 20 years, becoming one of the most recognizable game show hosts in television history. Fleming also appeared in a number of commercials and television programs, including “The Love Boat” and “Fantasy Island.” He retired from show business in the early 1980s and died in 1995.
