Will Packer is an American film producer and director. He is the founder and CEO of Will Packer Productions, a film and television production company. He has produced and/or directed a number of films, including the box office hits Ride Along, Think Like a Man, About Last Night, and Straight Outta Compton. He has also produced television shows such as The Game and Being Mary Jane.
Packer was born in Tallahassee, Florida, on January 13, 1974, to parents Willie and Joyce Packer. He has two sisters, Cheryl and Kim. He was raised in a strict Baptist household. He attended Florida A&M University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Packer’s first job out of college was working as an engineer for a telecommunications company. He soon realized that he was not passionate about engineering and decided to pursue a career in film. He moved to Los Angeles and enrolled in the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
Packer’s first film credit was as an associate producer on the 2001 film Trois: The Escort. He went on to produce the films Stomp the Yard, This Christmas, Obsessed, Takers, and Ride Along. He has also produced television shows such as The Game and Being Mary Jane.
