Timothy Carlton, born Timothy Carlton Congdon Cumberbatch on 16 October 1941, is an English actor. He is the son of Richard Cumberbatch, an actor, and Wanda Ventham, an actress. He has a younger brother, John Cumberbatch, who is also an actor. He was educated at Westminster School and at Clare College, Cambridge.
He began his acting career with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1964. He has appeared in many films and television programmes. His film credits include The Great Escape (1963), The Wrong Box (1966), The Last Valley (1971), and Young Sherlock Holmes (1985). His television credits include The Avengers (1966-67), The Persuaders! (1971-72), and Sherlock (2010-17).
He has been married twice: first to Wanda Ventham, with whom he has two sons, and then to Rebecca Hall, with whom he has a daughter.
