Shay Carl is an American vlogger, entrepreneur, and author. He is the founder and CEO of the multi-channel network Maker Studios, and the creator of the popular YouTube series Shaytards.

Born in Logan, Utah, on March 5, 1980, Shay Carl is the oldest of seven children. His parents are both schoolteachers, and his father is also a coach. Shay Carl was an active child, participating in sports and other activities. He began making videos with his friends in high school, and later attended Brigham Young University, where he studied film and media arts.

After college, Shay Carl worked as a production assistant on various television shows and movies. He also started a family with his wife, Colette Butler. In 2009, Shay Carl started posting daily vlogs (video blogs) to YouTube under the username “shaycarl.” The Shaytards channel quickly became popular, amassing more than 5 million subscribers and 1 billion views.

In 2012, Shay Carl and his family starred in their own reality TV show, The Shaytards, on the cable network TLC. The show followed the family’s everyday life for one year.

In 2015, Shay Carl launched a second YouTube channel called “Shayloss,” where he documented his weight-loss journey. He has also written two books: “In the Trenches of YouTube” and “Fatherhood: The First Year.”

Shay Carl’s net worth is estimated to be $30 million. He earns a significant portion of his income from Maker Studios, which he sold to Disney for $675 million in 2014. He also earns money from YouTube ad revenue, sponsorships, and merchandise sales.

Shay Carl is married to Colette Butler, with whom he has five children: Avia, Gavin, Emmi, Brock, and Daxton.
