Shaun Micallef was born in Adelaide, South Australia on 18 January 1962. His parents were both school teachers. He has two older sisters. He was educated at St Peter’s College, Adelaide and the University of Adelaide, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and History.
Micallef began his career as a stand-up comedian, performing in clubs and pubs around Adelaide. He later moved to Melbourne, where he became a regular performer at the Comedy Store. He also appeared on several Australian TV shows, including The D-Generation and Full Frontal.
In 1998, Micallef began hosting the satirical news show The Micallef Program (later renamed The Shaun Micallef Show). The show was a huge success, winning several Logie Awards. Micallef also wrote and starred in the critically acclaimed comedy series Mad as Hell.
In recent years, Micallef has appeared in a number of films, including The King’s Speech and The Great Gatsby. He has also published two books, The Micallef Program: A Guide to Life and The Shaun Micallef Show: A Guide to Happiness.
Micallef is married to television producer Sarah Monahan. They have two children.
