1You need to see what the actor needs. This one wants to be talked to privately. That one doesn't mind if you block it for them. Just tell me the truth and I'll adapt to it.
2I'm not someone who has had to deal with much personal drama outside of the usual: growing up with parents who hated each other, two marriages and divorces of my own. There was the cancer thing, too.
3Look at YouTube, how many talented people there are. It's a whole new world of how to express yourself. I don't know how to work that world, but take advantage of it.
4I was born and raised in the Bronx and my grandfather and my brother Garry were huge Yankees fans. One of my first memories is of them listening to a game on the radio and screaming at the radio. My brother would cry when they lost, and when I was really little, I didn't know why he was crying.
5It's better for me to go up against someone's passion with my passion and then clarifying something that he wrote. Then I know how to work around certain things.
6When I'm working, I'm obsessively working.
7People who text a lot are not my favorite thing.
8My mother was pretty nuts, but she was also a character.
9The truth is that I am not a frump... I just enjoy being laid back.
10Once I commit to something, I complete it. If I say 'no,' I mean 'no.' I just have to learn how to say 'no' more.
11I like arts and crafts.
12I have a good support system of friends and family.
13Yankee Stadium was the only thing we had in the Bronx. It was an institution.
14I have a grandson who is 20. He's a computer guy. I'm worried that he can't communicate without his machine. They have no personal contact with people. That's the bad part of technology.
15I wasn't like a girly girl. I was a tomboy.
16I do talk like a truck driver sometimes, or I curse. What can I say?
17We all used to collect baseball cards that came with bubble gum. You could never get the smell of gum off your cards, but you kept your Yankees cards pristine.
18I'm not the most positive person.
19I think everyone's mother is slightly nuts.
20I live in L.A., so I go to basketball games. But I love baseball.
21I'm not a hockey fan. I'm not a golf fan.
22I'll try anything. What are they gonna do, kick me out of show business?
23I would much rather feel comfortable and feel beautiful, than to feel uncomfortable, but look fantastic.
24I wish I could sing better.
25I want you to laugh and cry. That's what I do.
26I'm very happy to watch a video at home with a friend rather than do dinner.
27Movie stars are insecure like everyone else. That's why they go into acting!
28In my opinion, life is more important than show business.
29My family is well, and that's what's important.
30I've directed seven movies and know a thing or two about dealing with unexpected crises.
31I tell stories so only the independents do that and they don't pay you that much. I'd rather do TV or an HBO movie.
32I have season tickets to the Lakers and the Clippers.
33I don't startle easily.
34I don't know one lens from another. That's not my job. It's the cinematographer's job. But I can talk to people.
35I do feel it's important to entertain people. I try to.
36I don't mind if somebody texts me but I'm not a big texter, the things are too small. I don't mind if they text, '7 o'clock,' that's fine, that's logistics but, 'What's up?' Get real! Pick up a phone!
37My brother and sister were much older. They were planned. I was not planned for. I was called the mistake, amongst other things.
38If you're not having a good time, find something else that gives you some joy in life.
39You had to learn at a certain age what sarcasm is, you know?
40I have a strange combination of fearlessness and massive insecurity.

1Her wedding to Michael Henry was a small wedding in his mother's backyard. Penny wore a suit with a fur collar. They were married on November 22, 1963, the day President John F. Kennedy was shot. They spent their honeymoon in a motel watching the funeral on TV.
2In 2010, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and lung cancer. She had the tumor surgically removed, but took 12 radiation treatments for her lung cancer. She gained 60 pounds from the radiation.
3Her father was of Italian descent. Her maternal grandfather had English, Scottish, and Irish ancestry, and her maternal grandmother was of German descent.
4Mother of Tracy Reiner.
5Daughter of Anthony W. Marshall and Marjorie Marshall.
6Younger sister of Garry Marshall and Ronny Hallin.
7Best friends with Carrie Fisher.
8Sister-in-law of Barbara Marshall.
9Has directed 2 actors to Oscar nominations: Tom Hanks (Best Actor, Big (1988)), and Robert De Niro (Best Actor, Awakenings (1990)).
10Penny and Cindy Williams each received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a joint ceremony in 2004.
11Best remembered as "Laverne DeFazio" on Laverne & Shirley (1976).
12Ex-sister-in-law of Lucas Reiner and Maud Winchester.
13Ex-daughter-in-law of Carl Reiner and Estelle Reiner.
14Played the wife of her real-life brother Garry Marshall in Hocus Pocus (1993).
15Her mother agreed to send her to University of New Mexico because she thought it was close to her home in New York.
16Penny is an avid collector of sports memorabilia and has quite an extensive collection of baseballs, footballs and basketballs autographed by top athletes.
17Aunt of Penny Lee Hallin, Judy Hallin, Wendy S. Hallin, Lori Marshall, Kathleen Marshall and Scott Marshall.
18She replaced Howard Zieff as director of Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986) despite having only a couple of Laverne & Shirley (1976) and Happy Days (1974) episodes on her directing resumé.
19Made a rare public appearance at the Hollywood Collectors Show in North Hollywood, California with fellow Laverne & Shirley (1976) castmates. There, she greeted fans and signed autographs. [October 2002]
20She was one of 4 finalists considered for the role of Gloria Bunker/Stivic on All in the Family (1971). Had she won the role, she would have played opposite her real life boyfriend, and later husband (now ex-husband), Rob Reiner.
21First female to direct a movie that grossed over 100 million dollars in the US, with Big (1988). And the first female director with 2 movies that grossed over 100 million, with A League of Their Own (1992).
