Moya Doherty is an Irish television producer and businesswoman. She is best known for being a co-founder of Tyrone Productions, the company behind the popular television show Riverdance.

Doherty was born in Dublin, Ireland on May 13, 1960. She is the daughter of Irish broadcaster Gay Byrne and his wife Kathleen Watkins. She has three siblings: Byrne, Crona, and Suzy.

Doherty was educated at Loreto College, Dublin and Trinity College, Dublin. She began her career in the 1980s as a journalist with RTÉ, the national public service broadcaster in Ireland.

In 1994, Doherty co-founded Tyrone Productions with John McColgan. The company’s first project was Riverdance, a dance performance that was featured as part of the interval entertainment at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest. The performance was a hit, and led to a successful stage show and international tour.

Doherty has been married to John McColgan since 1988. The couple have two children: Aoife and Conor.
