Johnny Lozada was born on August 13, 1970, in New York City, New York. His parents were both of Puerto Rican descent. Lozada has two older sisters. He was raised in the Bronx and attended Catholic school. Lozada’s father died when he was 10 years old. His mother worked as a housekeeper to support the family. Lozada began playing baseball at a young age and was a standout player in high school. He was drafted by the New York Mets in 1988 and made his Major League debut with the team in 1991. Lozada played for the Mets for four seasons before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1995. He played for the Pirates for two seasons and then returned to the Mets in 1997. Lozada played for the Mets for four more seasons before retiring from baseball in 2001.

Lozada has been married twice. His first marriage was to Lisa Ann Russell, with whom he has two children. The couple divorced in 2014. Lozada married his second wife, Evelyn Lozada, in 2016. The couple has one child together.

Lozada has worked as a baseball analyst for ESPN and the MLB Network. He has also appeared on reality television shows, including VH1’s “Basketball Wives” and “Couples Therapy.”
