Giacomo Casanova was born on April 2, 1725, in the Republic of Venice. His father, Gaetano Casanova, was a silk merchant. His mother, Zanetta Farussi, was a seamstress. He had two sisters: Maria Maddalena (born 1727) and Francesca Giustina (born 1729). He also had two brothers: Giovanni Battista (born 1731) and Francesco Giacomo (born 1733).

Casanova was educated at the Jesuit college in Venice. He later studied law at the University of Padua, but did not complete his studies.

In 1744, Casanova began his career as a clerk for the Venetian Inquisition. He was later appointed as a diplomat to the court of Louis XV in Paris.

In 1750, Casanova returned to Venice. He became a Freemason and joined the Accademia degli Incogniti.

In 1755, Casanova published his first book, “The Story of My Life”. The book was an instant bestseller.

In 1760, Casanova was arrested by the Venetian Inquisition on charges of heresy and blasphemy. He was imprisoned for five years.

In 1766, Casanova was released from prison. He then moved to Paris, where he became a successful writer and businessman.

In 1774, Casanova met the Marquis de Sade. The two men became friends and collaborators.

In 1785, Casanova published his last book, “The Memoirs of Jacques Casanova de Seingalt”. The book was a huge success and made him famous worldwide.

Casanova died on June 4, 1798, in Duchcov, Bohemia. He was buried in the cemetery of Saint-Sulpice in Paris.

Casanova was a tall man with dark hair and blue eyes. He was an excellent swordsman and a skilled horseman. He was also a talented musician and an expert in mathematics and astronomy.
