Eason Chan Yick-shun (born July 27, 1974) is a Hong Kong singer and actor. He has been active since the 1990s and is considered one of the “Four Heavenly Kings” of Hong Kong. Chan has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Jade Solid Gold Top 10 Awards and the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Award for Best Actor.

Early Life

Chan was born in Hong Kong on July 27, 1974. His father, Chan Kai-ming, was a well-known Cantonese opera singer. His mother, Fang Yim-fong, was a television host. Chan has an older sister, Chan Wing-yan, and a younger brother, Chan Tak-shun.

Chan’s parents divorced when he was four years old. He was raised by his mother and spent his childhood in Kowloon City. He attended St. Francis Xavier’s Primary School and St. Francis Xavier’s Secondary School.

Chan’s interest in music began at a young age. He began singing Cantonese opera when he was four years old. He later joined a children’s choir and began taking piano lessons.

Career

Chan’s singing career began when he won first place in a singing contest in 1992. He released his first album, Eason’s First Album, in 1993. The album was a commercial success and helped launch Chan’s career.

Chan has released over 20 albums and has sold over 10 million records. He is one of the best-selling Chinese artists of all time. Chan has won numerous awards, including the Jade Solid Gold Top 10 Awards and the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Award for Best Actor.

In addition to his singing career, Chan has also appeared in several films and television dramas. He made his film debut in the 1996 film Young and Dangerous 3. He has also appeared in the films Infernal Affairs 3 (2003), Initial D (2005), and The Karate Kid (2010).

Chan married model Linda Chung in 2013. The couple has two daughters.
