Dorothy Fay was born on October 25, 1915 in Los Angeles, California. Her parents were vaudeville performers, and she made her stage debut at the age of three. Fay continued to perform throughout her childhood and adolescence, appearing in a number of films in the 1920s and 1930s.
Fay’s career took off in the 1940s, when she appeared in a string of successful films, including The Wizard of Oz (1939), Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), and The Three Musketeers (1948). She also starred in the popular television series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (1952-1966).
Fay retired from acting in the 1970s, but continued to make occasional public appearances. She died on December 14, 2016 at the age of 101.
Fay was married three times. Her first husband was actor Leo Carrillo, with whom she had one child. She later married actor Robert Sterling, with whom she had two children. Her third husband was businessman William S. Grant, Jr., with whom she had no children.
Fay was 5’4″ tall and had blue eyes and blonde hair.
