Dom Joly is a British comedian, television personality and author. He is best known for his creation and starring role in the hidden camera show Trigger Happy TV.

Joly was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on October 31, 1966. His father was a diplomat and his mother was a teacher. He has two older sisters. Joly was educated at Millfield School in Somerset, England. He then studied at the University of Bristol, where he earned a degree in French and Russian Studies.

Joly began his career as a journalist, working for The Sunday Times and The Independent. He then became a comedy writer and performer, appearing on shows such as Have I Got News For You and The 11 O’Clock Show.

In 2000, Joly created and starred in Trigger Happy TV, a hidden camera show that became a cult hit in the UK and abroad. The show ran for two series on Channel 4 and spawned a number of spin-offs, including a feature film.

Joly has since appeared on a variety of TV shows in the UK and US, including Celebrity Big Brother, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and The Graham Norton Show. He has also written two books, Trigger Happy and The Dark Side of Superficiality.

Joly is married to former BBC journalist Liz Kershaw. They have three children together.
