Diana Douglas, née Diana Lovell, (born January 22, 1923, Devonshire, England—died July 3, 2015, Woodland Hills, California, U.S.), American actress who was best known for her roles in the films A Place in the Sun (1951), The Bad and the Beautiful (1952), and It Happens Every Thursday (1953).

Douglas was the daughter of an English army officer and a French mother. She was educated in England and France before moving to the United States in 1940. There she worked as a model and began acting in small roles in film and television. In 1951 Douglas appeared opposite Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor in the George Stevens classic A Place in the Sun, playing Alice Tripp, a working-class girl who becomes the mistress of a wealthy man (Clift). The film was a critical and commercial success, and Douglas’s performance earned her a Golden Globe Award for new star of the year.

The following year Douglas appeared with Kirk Douglas and Lana Turner in the melodrama The Bad and the Beautiful. She played Georgia Lorrison, an aspiring actress who has an affair with a ruthless Hollywood producer (Kirk Douglas). The film was a hit, and Douglas’s work was singled out for praise. She next starred with Doris Day in It Happens Every Thursday (1953), playing a small-town woman who moves to Los Angeles after her husband leaves her. Douglas’s career began to wane in the late 1950s, though she continued to find work in film and television.

In 1943 Douglas married actor Kirk Douglas; they divorced in 1951. She later married Bill Darrid, with whom she had two sons before their divorce in 1982.
