Dave Koz is an American smooth jazz saxophonist. He was born in Encino, California, on March 27, 1963, to Jewish parents, Audrey (née Finkelstein) and Melvyn Koz, a pharmacist. He has a sister, Roberta. His father was of Russian descent and his mother’s family was from Hungary. Koz was exposed to music at an early age and began playing the clarinet when he was in the fifth grade. He graduated from William Howard Taft High School in 1981 and then studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he earned a degree in mass communications in 1985.

Koz began his career as a session musician, appearing on numerous albums by other artists such as Bobby Caldwell, Richard Marx, and Natalie Cole. He also toured with Barry Manilow in 1988. In 1990, he released his debut album, Dave Koz, which featured the hit single “You Make Me Smile”. His second album, Lucky Man, was released in 1993 and reached the top of the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts.

Koz has released a total of 15 albums, including The Dance (1999), Saxophonic (2005), and Hello Tomorrow (2010). He has also appeared as a guest on several television shows, such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Oprah Winfrey Show. In 2014, he was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame.

Koz has a net worth of $20 million. He has won numerous awards, including nine Grammy nominations. He has been married twice and has two children.
