Borle was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 1, 1973. His parents are Andre and Ellen Borle. He has two sisters, Rebecca and Amy. Borle was raised in a Jewish household.
Borle attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied theatre. He then moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting.
Borle made his Broadway debut in the musical “Smokey Joe’s Cafe” in 1995. He has also appeared in the Broadway productions of “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Footloose”, “The Wedding Singer”, “Legally Blonde”, “Peter and the Starcatcher”, and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”.
In 2012, Borle won his first Tony Award for his performance as Black Stache in “Peter and the Starcatcher”. He won his second Tony Award in 2016 for his portrayal of William Shakespeare in “Shakespeare in Love”.
Borle has also appeared on television shows such as “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Elementary”.
Borle is married to actress and singer Sutton Foster. They have no children together.
