Charles Esten is an American actor, singer and songwriter. He is best known for his role as Deacon Claybourne in the television drama series Nashville.

Charles Esten was born on September 9, 1965 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. His parents are George and Dorothy Esten. He has two sisters, Mary and Nancy. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in drama.
Career
Charles Esten began his career as a stand-up comedian in Los Angeles. He has appeared in numerous television shows and films, including The Office, CSI: Miami, NCIS: Los Angeles and The Mentalist. He has also guest-starred on such popular shows as Friends, Seinfeld and Mad About You. In 2012, he was cast as Deacon Claybourne in the ABC drama series Nashville. The show was cancelled in 2016 but was later picked up by CMT for a fifth season.

In addition to his acting career, Charles Esten is also a successful musician. He has released three albums: This Side of Town (2010), Every Way but Up (2012) and Here We Go Again (2016). He has also co-written several songs for the show Nashville, including “Can’t Let Go” and “This Town”.
