Chantal Kreviazuk is a Canadian singer-songwriter of Métis descent. She has released eight studio albums, with her most recent, Hard Sail, coming out in 2016. She has also written songs for other artists, including Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Gwen Stefani.

Born on May 18, 1974 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kreviazuk is the middle child of three girls. Her father is Ukrainian and her mother is Métis. Kreviazuk was exposed to music at a young age through her father, who was a singer in a Ukrainian band. She began playing piano when she was four years old and wrote her first song when she was nine.

Kreviazuk attended St. Mary’s Academy, a Catholic girls’ school in Winnipeg. After graduating high school, she enrolled at the University of Manitoba where she studied psychology and English literature. She dropped out after one year to pursue a career in music.

In 1995, Kreviazuk released her debut album, Under These Rocks and Stones. The album was certified platinum in Canada and spawned the hit singles “Surrounded” and “God Made Me”.

Kreviazuk’s second album, Colour Moving and Still, was released in 1999 and was certified double platinum in Canada. The album’s lead single, “Before You”, peaked at number one on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart.

In 2001, Kreviazuk released her third album, What If It All Means Something. The album was certified platinum in Canada and spawned the hit single “In This Life”.

Kreviazuk’s fourth album, Ghost Stories, was released in 2003 and was certified gold in Canada. The album’s lead single, “Feels Like Home”, peaked at number one on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart.

Kreviazuk’s fifth album, Since We Met, was released in 2006 and was certified gold in Canada. The album’s lead single, “All I Can Do”, peaked at number one on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart.

Kreviazuk’s sixth album, Plain Jane, was released in 2009 and was certified gold in Canada. The album’s lead single, “Into the Fire”, peaked at number one on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart.

Kreviazuk’s seventh album, Hard Sail, was released in 2016.

Kreviazuk has been married to Raine Maida, lead singer of Our Lady Peace, since 1999. The couple have three children together.
