Ben Edlund is an American cartoonist, writer, and producer. He is the creator of The Tick, a comic book character who has been adapted into an animated television series, live-action television series, and video games. Edlund was born in 1965 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. His parents were both teachers. He has two older sisters. Edlund was interested in comics and animation from a young age.
He attended the Rhode Island School of Design, where he majored in film and animation. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in animation. Edlund worked on several animated television series, including The Ren & Stimpy Show and Batman: The Animated Series. In 1994, he created The Tick, a comic book character who became the star of an animated television series, live-action television series, and video games. Edlund has won several awards for his work on The Tick, including an Emmy Award and a Peabody Award.
He currently serves as the executive producer and showrunner of The Tick live-action television series. Edlund is married to Lisa Henson, the daughter of Jim Henson. They have two children together.
