Covert began his career as a stand-up comedian in the 1980s. He has appeared in numerous stand-up comedy specials, including An Evening at the Improv and Comedy Central Presents. He has also appeared on late-night talk shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
