William Samuel Henson was born on July 1, 1812, in Nottinghamshire, England. His parents were William Henson and Sarah Henson. He had two brothers and two sisters. His early education was at a local school in Nottinghamshire.
Henson’s career began as a carpenter and joiner. He later became a successful builder and contractor. He also developed an interest in aviation and invented the first successful powered flying machine, the Aeroplane. Henson’s Aeroplane was exhibited at the Crystal Palace in London in 1868.
Henson’s net worth was estimated to be $1 million at the time of his death. He was unmarried and had no children.
Henson was a tall man with blue eyes and dark hair. He was an excellent athlete and was skilled at cricket and football. He was also a talented musician and played the violin and piano.
