Born in the Bronx, New York on July 14, 1946, Pastore was raised in an Italian-American family. His father was a butcher and his mother was a homemaker. He has two sisters and one brother.
Pastore attended Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx and graduated in 1964. He then studied at the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting.
Pastore’s first acting role was in the 1971 film The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight. He has since appeared in numerous films and television shows, including The Godfather Part II, Carlito’s Way, The Jerky Boys, Law & Order, and NYPD Blue.
Pastore’s most famous role was on The Sopranos, where he played Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero. He appeared in all six seasons of the show, from 1999 to 2007.
Pastore has been married twice. His first marriage was to Nancy Sheppard from 1975 to 1985. They have two children together. His second marriage was to Linda Marie Russo from 1989 to 1996. They have one child together.
