Too Short is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. He is best known for his hit songs “The Ghetto” and “Blow the Whistle”, and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the rap industry, including Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Tupac Shakur.
Born in Los Angeles, California, on April 28, 1966, Too Short (real name Todd Anthony Shaw) was raised in South Central LA. His parents divorced when he was young, and he was raised by his mother and stepfather. He began rapping at the age of 12, and by the time he was in high school, he was already performing at local clubs and parties.
After graduating from high school, Too Short began working on his music career in earnest. He released his first album, “Don’t Stop Rappin”, in 1985. The album was a local hit, and helped to put Too Short on the map. He followed it up with the release of his second album, “Players”, in 1987. The album was another success, and helped to establish Too Short as one of the premier rappers in the West Coast scene.
In 1988, Too Short released his third album, “Life Is…Too Short”. The album was a critical and commercial success, and helped to solidify his reputation as a top-tier rapper. It also featured the hit single “The Ghetto”, which would go on to become one of Too Short’s signature songs.
In the early 1990s, Too Short began to branch out into other areas of the entertainment industry. He appeared in the films “Menace II Society” (1993) and “Friday” (1995), and also had a cameo role in the television series “Martin” (1992). He also released a number of albums during this period, including “Shorty the Pimp” (1992), “Cocktails” (1995), and “Gettin’ It (Album Number Ten)” (1996).

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Too Short continued to release successful albums, including “Can’t Stay Away” (1999), “You Nasty” (2000), and “Chocolate Factory” (2003). He also appeared in a number of films, including “Boys n the Hood” (1991), “Training Day” (2001), and “Get Hard” (2015).
Too Short has been married twice and has five children. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
