Dash was born on January 20, 1966, in the Bronx, New York. Her mother, Linda Dash, was a homemaker, and her father, Dennis Dash, was an insurance broker. She has three sisters: Darien, Loretta, and Lisa. Dash was raised in a Christian household and attended Catholic school.
Dash began her career as a model in the 1980s. She made her film debut in the 1988 film Moving. In 1995, she landed the role of Dionne Marie Davenport in the hit film Clueless. The film was a critical and commercial success, and Dash’s performance was praised by critics. She reprised her role in the 1996 television series of the same name.
