Russ Cochran is an American businessman and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of Cochran Capital Partners, a private equity firm. He has also served as the chairman and CEO of the investment firm, Guggenheim Partners.
Cochran was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 6, 1951. He is the son of Mary and Robert Cochran. He has two brothers, Bob and Bill. Cochran attended St. Louis Country Day School and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
Cochran began his career as a commodities trader at Drexel Burnham Lambert. He later co-founded Cochran, Carreker & Company, an options trading firm. In 1984, he founded Guggenheim Partners, an investment firm.
Cochran is a member of the board of directors of the New York Stock Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Cochran has an estimated net worth of $1.5 billion. He is married to Nancy Cochran and they have three children.
